Remembering Mandela at Eden on the Bay
Saturday 18 July marked our first Mandela Day celebrations at Eden. The weather took a turn for the worst on Friday the 17th, so for a moment it looked like we were going to have a little rain on our parade.
Fortunately we were greeted with glorious blue skies on Saturday, 18th July which allowed us to go ahead with the amazing event we spent months planning.
Here’s what we got up to:
SALT Light Bag Drive
Within four hours on the 18th July, the SALT team were able to fill a large trolley with essential food items required for their Light Bag initiative.
These special bags are packed with specific grocery items that feed a family of 4 for a week. Peanut butter, samp, sugar, rice, mielie meal and other nutritious products were collected from Pick n Pay shoppers to add to this worthy cause.
To those who contributed in various ways, thank you so much for playing your part.
Kiddies Fun in the Courtyard
The Courtyard was a whirlwind of colour and fun as kids enjoyed the games and activities that we ran over the Mandela Day weekend.
We had a jumping castle, colouring in, a bright ball tent, balloon animals and two amazing child minders who happily watched the kiddies while moms and dads relaxed with a coffee nearby.
Our customers had access to some seriously amazing R67 specials at participating stores on the 18th. For one day only, shoppers could choose from a variety of specials priced at R67 (inspired by the 67 minutes theme).
The specials were really well received, particularly Moyo’s breakfast buffet for R67 which were a lovely surprise to customers that day.
Here are some of the amazing specials that were run on 18 July:
Thank you to our customers who came to celebrate with us. We’re looking forward to honouring Madiba in the years to come.
