IT’S FEBRUARY WHICH MEANS IT’S THE MONTH OF LOVE
HOW DID IT ALL START?
There are many stories about the origination of the month of love, but because we loved this one so much, we chose to share it with you.
The Emperor Claudius II decided to ban marriage as he believed that married men were not good soldiers. Valentine thought this decision was very unfair and he in turn, broke the rules and started arranging secret marriages.
Eventually Claudius found out about Valentine’s secret and he was thrown into jail. There Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s Daughter.
When Claudius found out, Valentine was sentenced to death. He was taken to the gallows on 14 February, when he sent her a love letter signed “from your Valentine”.
And so, the story of the ‘month of love’ started way back in 496
It seems as we have only just celebrated Christmas and the welcoming in of a New Year and Decade, but already, January has slipped away, and the celebrations and holidays seem like a distant memory.
Whether married, single or otherwise, February is the month in which we celebrate love. It’s a time to be thankful for all those in your life who are near and dear and it’s time to tell them so and make them feel special.
Spoil someone by sending them a meaningful card with a lovely message, or even perhaps flowers or chocolates. Let them know, even in some small way how grateful you are to have them in your life. Paying forward is also a way in which to make total strangers feel special.
Don’t forget to love and spoil yourself in the process. Buy yourself something nice or treat yourself to that massage you have been wanting for a while.
And for the couples. Set time aside for each other. Do things together, take a stroll on the beach, watch the sun go down, plan a romantic dinner, or a sundown picnic on the beach. There is so much to do and it’s all about LOVE!
Excitingly, 2020 happens to be a Leap Year, which means one extra day in the month, the 29th.
Now ladies, as Legend has it, this is your chance to pop the question and you only have one day on which to do it and that’s on the 29th!
