Fun things to do during Lockdown – BESIDES FEELING THAT LIFE IS SURREAL RIGHT NOW, IT SEEMS THAT ALL WE HEAR IS DOOM AND GLOOM!

Just for a bit of up-liftment in difficult times, we thought we would just share a little ‘breath of fresh air’ which afterall, is what Eden On The Bay is all about.

We guess that most are probably all Netflixed out by now, having watched every series possible and sporting a fab fridge light tan from constant raiding and binging.  No better time then for us to share a few fun ideas to keep you busy in hopefully, this final stretch of the lockdown.

Fun things to do during Lockdown:

  • WHAT’S COOKING GOOD LOOKING?

Even if you are not a Jamie Oliver in the kitchen, try your hand at a new recipe.

Being at home means that you can finally try something new and cook it from scratch.  Even if you are on a strict budget, there are some great ideas on Google!

  • DIG OUT THOSE BOARD GAMES This is a great time for bonding with the family.  Yes, we know it’s been a while that you have all been cooped up together, but even just a game of good old Monopoly, you are sure to have fun.  For those who are in lockdown alone, there are some great on-line games, some even inter-acting with live-time competitors

  • GOOD AND CLEAN AND FRESH

You have put this off for how long?  Doing a deep clean of your house offers days of distraction.  Start with dusty skirting boards, grubby tiles, light switches and walls.  If it seems all to overwhelming, just focus on one room at a time

  • CLUTTER, CLUTTER EVERYWHERE!

Once the bug has bitten and you feel that amazing sense of satisfaction in your clean house, grab the opportunity to de-clutter once you have recuperated

  • WE LOVE IT WHEN YOU TALK ‘FOREIGN

Now’s the time to start learning a new language!  Lockdown is the perfect time to jump onto your Computer and find yourself a free language Tutorial.  Brush up on your vocab and practice your pronunciation.

  • IT’S JUST JUMP TO THE LEFT AND A STEP TO THE RIGHT

Even if you are confined to one room for most of the day, keeping physically active will make a massive difference to how you feel during lockdown.  It will lift your mood help you sleep better and leave you feeling good.  You don’t even need any equipment for a good workout and if you are stuck for ideas, there are plenty on You Tube

  • WHICH BRANCH OF THE TREE IS YOUR’S?

A perfect opportunity to discover a few home truths by tracing your family tree.  Which branch is yours?  Discover your roots and learn about genealogy.  It is amazing how many lost memories you will unearth, memories that come rushing back and possibly even finding distant relatives

  • MAKE OR BREAK

When it comes to emergencies, timing is of utmost importance.  At this time when medical centres are inundated with the ill, being prepared for an emergency whilst in lockdown or self-isolation is invaluable and could save a life.  Find yourself a free on-line course and equip yourself for a time of need

  • READ A BOOK

There is nothing quite as therapeutic than snuggling into your favourite chair and reading a good book.  Now’s the time to tackle that pile of novels on your bedside table or if you prefer an audio book, there are many on-line choices

  • PLAN YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAY

Working from home saves money on petrol or transport and probably also buying lunch every day.  Work out how much you are saving and put it towards your next holiday.  There is no harm in dreaming and planning in advance

  • AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

During lockdown, the days seems to roll from one into another, leaving us feeling confused about days, dates and times.

Just a reminder, it’s Mother’s Day on 10th May. Hopefully by then we will all be back on track, so start planning something special for Mom.  Have a ‘Plan B’ in mind just in case we are all still in captivity.

On-line vouchers come to mind, and she will then have a little shopping spree to look forward to, once this is all behind us.
