Father’s Day
“THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING”
The times they are changing – And on a much happier note bit by bit, a brand new world is beckoning and with Eden on the Bay around the corner, its right on our doorstep!
As anticipated by many, things will probably never be the same again but hey, that may not be a bad thing at all.
Yes, it has been tough but just take a few minutes to think about the many positives which have emerged from the lockdown:
• Spending quality time with loved ones and pets • discovering new skills •long- overdue DIY jobs around the home • a variety of different meals and yummy desserts • making time to catch up with friends and family on social media and don’t forget those who have suddenly discovered the world of • on-line shopping! What a revelation for them too!
Getting back into the swing of things at Eden on the Bay will be a (sea) breeze!
WHAT’S NEXT ON THE ‘BACK TO REALITY’ LIST?
Well let’s start with that special man in our lives! Whether a Husband, a Dad, a Grandad or just a special person in your life, it will soon be Father’s Day! (Yes, we know that Mother’s Day got slightly lost in the Covid-19 frenzy this year), but almost all is back on track, to spoil your special person.
In fact, it may just be the perfect opportunity to celebrate both occasions as a double celebration! Why not?
Most of our fabulous restaurants at Eden on the Bay are already providing sumptuous take- aways, which will be safely delivered to your door. Collections are also now permitted. What nicer way than to enjoy a special celebration (or two), in the comfy surroundings of your own home?
Before you give any real thought to the day, just imagine if you could arrange a special personalised shout out for Dad from one of his favourite celebrities! Well you can!
Take a look at this very cool idea by clicking on the following link https://www.cameo.com/ We know being in $ $ $’s that it is a bit pricey but thought it was worth a share, regardless!
For the South-African celebrities, check out My Fan Park: https://www.myfanpark.com/home/
At the best of times Dads can be quite tricky when it comes to gifts. With that in mind, we thought we would try and help you along with a few lockdown ideas, bearing in mind that goal posts seem to move daily.
Oh yes, and whilst on the subject of ‘tricky’, just a reminder that some of the Dads are also ‘fur- baby Dads’, so don’t forget to include them in the celebrations too. (Both the Dads and their Fur-babies)!
“Kom Ons Braai”
One can never go wrong with a good braai. Decorate the braai area and if you don’t feel confident to take over the actual braaing, perhaps consider a Mongolian Braai, where everyone adds their own ingredients to diced steak or chicken and cooks up a storm with their own concoction. Just a bit of imagination does it! Mushrooms, onions, chillis, noodles, chopped bacon, fresh veggies. The list is endless, and it is so much fun!
Home Made Treats
There is nothing nicer than delicious homemade sweet treats, and when made from the heart,
they are especially good! Package nicely and there you go!
Pamper time
Don’t let them tell you that they don’t love being spoiled! Google how to make a simple face mask, using simple everyday ingredients. Get the kids to make it and then wait on his every need.
Craft Beer
Most guys enjoy a good beer and here in Cape Town, we truly are spoiled for choice. Although we can’t take Dad down to the local pub to enjoy a pint, liquor stores are back in operation. Support local and check out their selection ???
****Not for sale to persons under the age of 18******
Choose a Destination and escape
The world is your oyster. Choose a destination which appears on the bucket list and go touring on You Tube, (popcorn at hand of course)! Print a home-made airticket, place it in an envelope with a special message and give it to Dad. Be ready with the remote and press PLAY when he is settled in his favourite armchair. He will never have a less expensive overseas trip ever! Bon voyage!
Invite your friends over for a quiz afternoon
Get the kids to Google a few interesting facts on various subjects and compile lots of questions.
Invite your friends over on zoom and enjoy the fun!
Give Dad the chance to choose his favorite movie
We know that Westerns and War or Cowboys and Indians may not be a first choice, but if that’s what Dad enjoys, indulge him this privilege. Support a local take-away and arrange a delivery of his favourite pizza, burger or whatever meal he loves!
Collections from your favourite restaurant at Eden on the Bay are also allowed now. He will love this!
